High Sex Drive Linked to Prostate Cancer

File under Rewards and Risks, in that order. The BBC reports on a Nottingham University study whose results suggest that men who are more sexually active in their 20s and 30s run a higher risk of prostate cancer. Researchers at the university of Robin Hood’s hood recruited more than 400 men diagnosed with prostate cancer anSex22d 409 men thought to be free of the disease. They asked both groups how often they had sex or masturbated, as well as how many sexual partners they had had. The BBC reports that 40 percent of men in the cancer group had been sexually active 20 times a month
or more in their 20s, compared with 32 percent in the non-cancer group. The researchers also found that two-fifths of the prostate cancer group had had six female
partners or more, compared with less than a third of the non-cancer
group. One theory suggested by the researchers argues that higher levels of sex hormones in some men were both responsible for
a high sex drive in their 20s and 30s, and for the development of
prostate cancer later on.

  1. Use it – Sex. Or Lose It – Prostate or Life.

  2. Sounds like a study subsidised by the elite aimed at population control…

It was fun while it lasted.

  4. i have NEVER EVER EVER met a man who was honest in assessing his sexual encounters after the fact… what a crock!

  5. Perhaps other factors that come with more a riskier lifestyle. More sex does not mean risky lifestyle, but for some it can be a indicator. So the whole story needs to be told. Who knows maybe it is the cigarettes that are smoked after sex? Some thing to think about.

My friends doctor told him he should have sex at least three times a week, every week, “no matter what for the rest of his and he would not have prostate problems in the future.
That was 43 years ago. He is 64 years old now, does not have any enlargement of the prostate, unination problem, erectile problems or any sign of cancer!!!
And he is still going at it as strong as ever.

The article doesn’t give enough information to determine anything(at least the version I’ve got here). Many in the urology, cancer, and sexual dysfunction fields advocate ‘Frequent’ discharge of semen to keep a prostate healthy. Twenty years ago I was frequently told during check-ups that my prostate was enlarged and urination was sometimes a slow process. Since exercising the advice given to me(frequent orgasm)-I have not had any such recurrances in the past 15yrs. PSA-.4, rectal-/digital exam- healthy, urine stream- strong. Not a high price to pay for a healthy prostate-and enjoyable. One way or another that prostate gets emptied every day or two.
