Some day, some enterprising editor will require his overworked interns to compile a list of America’s phattest cities. Until then, readers can apply the full brunt of their skepticism Men’s Fitness magazine’s listings of the Fittest and Fattest cities.
And the 2009 winner of the Fittest city is… Salt Lake City Utah, where one out of three people runs or jogs for exercise, and which has more racquetball players per capita than any other large city. No comment. Salt Lake is followed by Colorado Springs, Minneapolis, Denver and Albuquerque, which also wins Geezer’s award for being the hardest city to spell. On the other end of the wellness spectrum, the five fattest cities, according to Men’s Fitness, are Miami, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Las Vegas, and New York, New York. See the Men’s Fitness list of fattest cities here.
