Cell Phones May Hinder Bone Growth

Cell phones may speed the pace of our daily lives, but they may also slow the pace of growth of our bones. That's the ring tone of research conducted at Suleyman Demirel University in Isparta, Turkey and published in the September issue of the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery.  For those readers who missed that issue, HealthDay reports that the Turkish researchers used X-ray technology to measure the density of hip bones in 150 men who carried cell phones on their hips for an average of 15 hours a day for six years. What did they find? The density of hip bones on the side of the body where men wore their phones was slightly less than the density of bones on the other side, with the adjective "slightly" deserving some serious attention. The researchers, who theorize that electromagnetic fields emitted by cell phones may be to blame, admit that the difference in bone density was not statistically significant, and was unlikedly to put the men at any risk. They add, however, that the men in the study were young (average age 32), and more years of cell phone wear could continue to weaken bones.

    Wow! that got deep quick!
That is one of the more outlandish things I have ever heard.
Did they take into consideration the individuals diets, exercise or lack there of, and other possible health related activities and/or habits?
Sorry, it is just too difficult to such “studies” seriously.

  2. It makes sense to me. Bone growth is controlled by electrical signals so if those are being blocked then bone growth would also be affected in some way.

  3. Absolutely true, we really done think before using cell phones to kids. They can use it for their safety purposes but other side it is lowering the growth of bones. This is something new to know now m gonna share it with my friends.

  4. I am always looking for new blogposts in the world wide web about this matter. Thx.
