Too-Close Encounters Between Runners and Cars

The road to fitness is long, but it is not wide. That is Geezer’s conclusion after watching this video debate about who is more wrong: cyclists, pedestrians, or drivers, and reading this New York Times piece on close on way-too-close encounters between runners and drivers. I am a biker and have my own issues here. In my area reside a bunch of Yuppie Nerds who think anyone who moves beyond a walk is a threat to their safety. They have no concept of accelerated motion and have turned me into the cops a few times though I never came close to them. I try to do my thing early when they are not around but this is not always possible. Also the path is not very wide and therefore not possible to give a wide berth to these pussies. Our sedate, slow-moving, obese individuals have already managed to get aid from the govenment due to their laziness for medical reimbursement because they cannot control their eating – now they want us all to slow down to their snail’s pace – not me – move it fat-boy!

  2. Wow. Crazy stuff. I’ve had horns blown at me, of course. And a few yells that weren’t from friends. Most everyone else has been courteous.
