Inquisitive readers may have a couple of questions about this L.A. Whatev. The Times taps knowledgeable gear guy Roy Wallack to give us a covetous critique and pricing info about REI mesh MTS tank tops, Zensah knee sleeves, Brooks Vapor Fry Gloves, and a full-zippered, ultra-lightweight Pearl Izumi Optik vest that wads up to the size of an ice cube (and tops the price list at $69.99). It's true that this year's Christmas has come and gone, along with the in-laws, but there's always another Christmas, for better or worse.
