Multivitamins May Boost Risk of Advanced Prostate Cancer

Not that anyone really needs multivitamins to begin with, now comes a disturbing report that from the U.S. National Cancer Institute, warning that  taking more than one
multivitamin a day could increase a man’s risk for prostate cancer
by nearly a third. Science Daily reports that researchers followed 295,344 men enrolled in the National Institutes of
Health-AARP Diet and Health Study to determine the association between
multivitamin use and prostate cancer risk. After five years of
follow-up, 10,241 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer, including
8,765 with localized cancers and 1,476 with advanced cancers. The
researchers found no association between multivitamin use and the risk
of localized prostate cancer, but they did find an increased risk of
advanced and fatal prostate cancer among men who used multivitamins
more than seven times a week, compared with men who did not use
multivitamins.

  1. Folks,
Let’s see what a remedial search on the ties between the U.S. National Cancer Institute and the BIG PHARMA Companies tuens up shall we?
Gee … look at what we could dig up in one search?
    Makes you wonder doesn’t it?

    * Pharmaceutical Company Ties
“The NCI has become what amounts to a government pharmaceutical company.” -Samuel Broder, NCI director from 1989 to 1995
For years the ACS demonstrated its allegiance to the multibillion-dollar cancer drug industry by aggressively attacking potential competitors through its “Committee on Unproven Methods of Cancer Management,” created to “review” unorthodox or alternative therapies. This committee, staffed by “volunteer health care professionals,” invariably promoted mainstream, expensive, and arguably toxic drugs patented by major pharmaceutical companies, and opposed alternative or “unproven” therapies, which are generally cheap, non-patentable, and minimally toxic.

  2. More on why you should NEVER trust the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) and why they are screwing you the consumer (or patient).

  3. Could this have anything to do with longevity? Maybe the vitamin takers live longer, and that allows the advanced cancer to develop? People who take vitamins have a vested interest in their own health, as opposed to a passing interest. This was not a good study. Too many variables were not accounted for, just associations with the one variable.

(Notice that they don’t use the word ‘MAY’, they use the word ‘DOES’ … there’s a BIG difference!)
The widely prescribed diabetes drug Avandia is linked to a greater risk of heart attack and possibly death, a new scientific analysis revealed, and the U.S. government issued a safety alert Monday.
Dozens of studies revealed a 43 percent higher risk of heart attack, according to the review published by the New England Journal of Medicine.

CAN THEY SAY THE SAME ABOUT VITAMINS?
