Mastering Stairs, the Old Fashioned Way

It’s good exercise, and it’s for a good cause, but boy does it hurt if you haven’t done it in a while. On Saturday, 200 health and charity minded people will run up the 1,378 stairs of the 55-story BentleyForbes-Bank
of America Plaza in Atlanta, for the benefit of their cardio fitness and the American Lung Association. Donna Brazzell, coordinator for the Atlanta stair climb, told the Washington Post that running stairs can provide the
same benefits that come after running twice as long on level ground.  The Post reports that Similar skyscraper stair climbs have popped up in Chicago, Boston,
Denver, Detroit, Toronto, Miami and San Francisco. But New York claims
the granddaddy of them all–the Empire State Building Run-Up, which
has been held each February since 1978 by the New York Road Runners.
