It took a while for science to apply Cartesian thought to fitness training, but Geezer thinks it was worth the wait. The Wall Street Journal reports on an encouraging research project conducted by a Harvard psychologist who told one group of housekeepers in Boston hotels that their daily chores provided a healthy physical workout and told another group nothing. After four weeks, the Journal reports, the women in the informed group lost an average of two pounds, saw
their systolic blood pressure (the first number) drop 10%, lost about
0.5% of their body fat, and reduced their body-mass index by .35 of a
