How to Exercise Safely in the Heat

Everybody complains about the weather, and people who don’t want to die of heat stroke do something about it. Like what? This L.A. Times piece offers several bits of advice, along with some disturbing facts about the dangers of overheating. (Yes, it can kill you.)  Those who insist on exercising when the temperature reaches the 90s and humidity is high should remember a couple of things: Thin people tend to heat up more slowly than fat people, people who exercise heat up more slowly than those who don’t exercise, and menstruating women heat up quickly. To stay safe, the Times advises, stay hydrated, wear the lightest clothing possible, and have a cup of coffee before exercising.
