Between August 2004 and July 2005, the FDA logged 2,000 reports about
Celebrex side effects. About 700 of them detailed heart
problems, including heart attacks and strokes . The FDA has nearly 300 reports that blame Celebrex for causing a patient’s
death, and in more than half of them, the death came after a cardiovascular
event. Another 180 said
Celebrex contributed to cardiac side effects that resulted in
hospitalization. These discomforting numbers come from a Boston Globe report about the safety of Celebrex, which was the first in a new class of
painkillers designed to be tough on pain, but gentle on stomachs. The piece points out that of
the three approved drugs in that category, only Celebrex remains on the
