Today, he’d like to direct your attention to the opinions of a few fitness experts who worry that, while iPods and TV screens may keep you going, they also diminish a mind-body connection that can help build muscle. The Washington Post advises readers that athletes digging deep for peak performance would do well to ditch the
headphones and focus on their bodies. The paper quotes Ohio University
psychology professor Benjamin Ogles, who reports that studies have shown that the more
distracted the athlete, the slower the times. "If you want to maintain a high level of intensity," says Ogles, "you pretty much have to focus on your body."
