To Find an Exercise Partner, Look Online

The New York Times reports on a trend that just couldn’t not happen: people seeking like-minded exercise partners online. Craigslist, the Times reports, had 23,000 postings in its Activities section in 2001. Last year it had 228,125. Several sites, such as the year-and-a-half-old Exercisefriends, and newcomers
like yoplayas.com, sportsvite.com and myactivitymatch.com promise to do that well. The Times also points us to a couple of "vertical" sites like (no pun intended) Rockclimbing.com, sandeaters.org for scuba divers, for single sport pursuit of partners. Finally, the story offers one piece of advice: these sites should be used for fitness, not for romance. Read more in the New York Times.
