Finally, the New York Times reports, someone has invented a waterproof case for iPods, making it possible for swimmers to get with the music that has been aiding the adrenalin flow of runners, cyclists and other terrestrial athletes. The company, H2O Audio, sell clear carbon-fiber cases–rated waterproof to 10 feet– for many recent iPod models. The Times reports that H2O Audio recently added new underwater headphones, which are sold at many online and offline
retailers for about $40. Getting a good seal can take a
few tries, and the article warns that while the sound is tinny on land, it is richer when the
headphones are submerged and sealed by water pressure. The waterproof cases strap on with a neoprene armband, or an
optional waist belt that routes the headphone cable down a swimmer’s
back.
