Is it true that virtually everything American society has done in the last 100 years has made it easier to be fatter? That’s the claim of James Sallis, a San Diego State University psychology professor who was once described by Time magazine as an "obesity warrior." The Los Angeles Times reports on Sallis’s argument that change will come only when the public demands walkable
development, more federal money for parks and bike paths and even a tax
on industries that promote sedentary lifestyles such as video
