Hot on the Trail of Gym Germs

It’s possible that Geezer’s long-held theory —if you can’t see something then it can’t see you– does not apply to germs. Certainly, LA Times health and fitness writer Jeannine Stein would  give the advantage to the germs. In this vaguely disturbing piece, Stein tags along with Marcia Jeffries, an environmental health specialist with the County of
Los Angeles Department of Public Health, Recreational Health Program, as she makes her rounds on gym germ patrol. Jeffries, who tests the cleanliness of hot tubs, showers and saunas, advises everyone to invest $1.99 in flip flops. And what about sweat-covered gym equipment? Wipe it down, she says. If your gym doesn’t provide the needed sanitizers and paper towels, bring your own. Read more about gym germs in the L.A. Times.
