Can a high-protein diet really keep you awake at night? Geezer, happily mired in an ancient carb-friendly regimen, wouldn’t have a clue, but London Times’ health answer person Jane Clarke seems to think it’s quite possible. Clarke reports that she has seen many people who start to have trouble sleeping after signing on to high protein diets. And while she doesn’t give us the science behind the disturbance, she does suggest a few solutions, most involving the addition of some serotonin-producing starches, such as pasta, bread, or cereal. If you’re too much of a purist to descend into starch, Clarke recommends a glass of hot milk before bed–just be sure to leave out the chocolate. Read more in the London Times.
