Boomers Return to Drugs

The good news, according to a recent survey by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Services Administration, whoever they are, is that fewer of our teenage offspring are using illicit drugs than used them four years ago. The bad news is that more boomers are going back to their wicked ways. The Scientific American reports on the survey, which found that just 6.8 percent of teenagers aged 12 to 17 said they used
marijuana in 2005, down from 8.2 percent in 2002.  It also found that the rate of current illicit drug use increased from 2.7
percent among adults aged 50 to 59 in 2002 to 4.4 percent in
2005. Geezer does have a few thoughts about the phenomenon, but he also has teenage kids, so he will take the Fifth and direct gentle readers to the latest evidence that smoking dope does not make you smarter.
