Thinkin Bout Triathloning? Read This.

Now that triathlons are no longer the death-defying torment they once were, many relatively sane people are considering taking part. If you happen to be one of those people, a new online forum put together by Men’s Health should amuse you, and, at best, inform you. Five editorial yeoman and one fetching editorial yeowoman from Men’s Health, Women’s Health and Best Life have promised to post updates on their training for the September 25th Nautica Malibu Triathlon, which consists of a 4-mile run, a .5-mile swim, and an 18-mile bike.  So far, there is not a lot of pain in evidence, and, as expected of editorial people, the postings are few and, yes, tardy. ( Rodale should have known enough to go with the production team.) If nothing else, readers can earn beer money handicapping the athletes (broadly defined) and betting on their times. We’ll put our money on Best Life executive editor Jeff Csatari, otherwise known as “The Mad Hungarian,” whose stated goal is “not to be the last in my age group.” Geezer has always advocated choosing attainable goals.
