Exercise Your Brain

After you’ve tended to cardio and strength building and fast twitch and slow twitch and medium twitch, there’s one more more thing you may want to exercise. Forget what that is? That could be part of the problem. As this story in the Boston Globe reports, scientists are convinced that the brain is like any other muscle: you’ve got to use it or lose it.  Research shows that people without a college education are twice as likely to get Alzheimer’s as are those with a college education, and people whose jobs are not mentally challenging have three to four times the risk of getting Alzheimer’s as those with challenging jobs. Other ways to decrease the risk of Alzheimer’s include staying in shape, eating well, and playing games that require strategy. Read more here.
