Forget about "no pain, no gain." A new study conducted by researchers at Stanford University suggests that, when it comes to exercise, more gain equals less pain. Web MD reports that Stanford researchers spent 14 years tracking the health of members of a running club and the health of a similar group of
nonrunners, all of whom were in their mid-60s. Each year, the participants completed
a survey about their overall health, pain levels, injuries, and exercise
habits. The results, published in Arthritis Research and Therapy, showed that the runners had 25 percent less joint and muscle pain, even though they were more likely to suffer
painful injuries.. Read a confusing abstract from the study.
