There is plenty of room for debate about the relative merits of what Men’s Journal is calling the “Ten Coolest Mountain Towns.” A quick rundown: Whistler, BC, Sandpoint, Idaho, Valdez, Alaska, Livingston, Montana, South Lake Tahoe, California, North Conway, New Hampshire, Park City, Utah, Telluride, Colorado, Davis, West Virginia, and Lake Placid, New York. Whatever. The jaunty service piece gives us several good reasons to book winter vacations in any of these resort towns. But what do you think? Click on the “Comments” function and tell SportsGeezer readers about your favorite mountain town. Or read more in Men’s Journal.
Asheville, NC: ecclectic, hip and temperate.

Just wanted to agree with the article about Park City, Utah. I have been all over N. America seeking out the best ski town. I have found my place in Park City. It is by far the most livable and most amazing place to live!!!
why livingston montana? bozeman is right over the pass and closer to all 3 world class ski resorts. this makes no sense. bozeman is bigger, has a university, the 3 world class ski resorts i mentioned, is surrounded by public land, has a nightlife, plenty of well paying jobs, reasonably priced housing and rentals, good food, etc. livingston is windier than hell, and yes its pretty but anywhere in southwest montana is beautiful. bozeman is exploding in population and land prices, and livingston is relatively stable and not growing as fast. livingston and towns south into paradise valley are home to the cult known as church universal triumphant. been to livingston many times and it strikes me as a dusty crossroads surrounded by some nice scenery. hope someone can back me up here.
No Stowe?
Mike,
Totally agree, I lived in many towns in Montana including: Mammoth Hot Springs, Bozeman, Phillipsburg, and Whitefish. Livingston would probably be on my least favorite, with Whitefish and the Flathead Valley being on top. Missoula is another very cool, hip mountain town in Montana.
