The amount is unimpressive–just one glass will suffice– but evidence suggests that wine may be good for your kidneys. HealthDay reports that when researchers looked at the kidney health and the diets of nearly 6,000 people, they found that those who drank less than one glass of wine a day had a 37 percent lower risk of having chronic kidney disease than those who drank no wine. Wait, there’s more: those who had chronic kidney disease and drank less than one glass a day had a 29 percent lower risk of cardiovascular events than those who drank no wine. The researchers suspect that the salutary effects stem from the polyphenols that are found in wine and are known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Yes. More research is needed.
