No, You’re Not Creative, Just Narcissistic
Think of yourself as a creative type? Could be true, or you could just be narcissistic. Or both. The Atlantic reports on research conducted at University College in London that asked 207 people about what creative activities, such as choreographic a dance or writing a poem, they’d done in the past year. It also asked them how creative they were compared to others, and it ranked their “Big Five” personality traits—neuroticism, extraversion, openness-to-experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness—as well as obsessive-compulsiveness and narcissism. The envelope please…. The researchers found that narcissism was correlated with doing creative things, regardless of the quality of those creations, but was more strongly correlated with self-reported creativity, which is, in one way, creative.
