How Lying To Your Wife Can Hurt Your Golf Game
Yet another reason not to lie to your spouse: it can hurt your golf game. It’s true. Researchers at Cornell University are convinced that the stress of keeping a secret can “cause lapses in physical stamina, intellectual acuity, executive function and even email etiquette.” Yes, email etiquette. The Cornell Chronicle reports that when psychologists from Cornell and Berkeley put research subjects through a series of tests that required them to conceal information from interviewers they found that the constant work of monitoring thoughts and censoring language caused what psychologists call “self-regulatory exertion and depletion.” Why do we care?
