The very best foods for boosting our immune systems are apparently color coded: they are red grapes and blueberries. That news comes from researchers at the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, who analyzed 446 compounds for their the ability to boost our resistance. ScienceDaily reports that the compounds found in the two foods– resveratrol in red grapes and pterostilbene in blueberries- work in synergy with vitamin D and increase the expression of the human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide, or CAMP gene, which influence the immune system.
